Privacy policy
Effective date: July 27, 2026
SingSpark ("the app") is a karaoke app for iOS, Android and the web, made by Shahab Mokhtari ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does — and deliberately does not do — with your information. The short version: your voice never leaves your device, you don't need an account, and nothing about you is ever sold.
1. Your voice and your music
- Microphone audio is processed entirely on your device. Pitch detection, scoring, auto-tune and warm-ups all run locally. Raw microphone audio is never recorded to a server, never uploaded, and never shared.
- Your imported songs stay on your device. The AI vocal split also runs fully on-device. In party mode, a song you choose to share is sent directly to the other participants' devices over your local network or an encrypted peer-to-peer connection — not to our servers.
- Song titles/artists may be sent to lyrics services (LRCLIB) to fetch lyrics for songs you import. Only the title/artist text is sent — never the audio.
2. What we collect (and how to turn it off)
If the "Help improve SingSpark" toggle is on (Settings), the app sends anonymous usage analytics to our own server:
- A random install identifier (a UUID we generate — not your name, email, phone number, or the advertising ID).
- Product interactions (e.g. "a song was played", "a party was hosted"), app version and platform.
- Approximate location (country/region), derived on the server from the request's IP address for the live "Pulse" globe. The IP itself is not stored with analytics events.
- Song titles appear in analytics only when the improve toggle is on.
You can turn this off at any time in Settings; the app works identically. Analytics events are automatically deleted after 90 days.
We collect no account data (there are no accounts), no contacts, no precise location, no photos, no messages, and no browsing history.
3. Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a push token to deliver practice reminders and party invites. Decline the permission and everything else works.
4. Advertising
The app includes Google's ad SDK, but ads are off by default. If ads are enabled in a future release:
- No ad is requested until you have completed a consent flow (Google UMP) and, on iOS, responded to Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
- If you decline tracking, ads may still show but are not personalized.
- Google's ad services then process data as described in Google's privacy policy.
5. Party mode
Rooms are identified by a random 4-letter code and exist only while the host is present. Display names you enter are visible to the other people in your room and are not retained after the room closes. Song files transfer peer-to-peer between participants.
6. Data sharing and selling
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the processors named above (lyrics lookup, and — only after consent — Google ads) and where required by law.
7. Your rights
Because analytics are anonymous, we usually cannot link stored events to you. You can: turn analytics off (Settings), reset the app's data by deleting the app, and contact us for any privacy request — including deletion questions — at hello@singspark.app. EU/UK residents may also lodge complaints with their supervisory authority; California residents have the rights described in the CCPA (we do not sell or "share" personal information as defined there).
8. Children
SingSpark is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes
We'll update this page and the effective date when this policy changes. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
